  • April 27 2017 UPDATE: NEW INFORMATION ABOUT ASPARTAME THAT IS FOUND IN ALL DIET COLAS AND ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS AT END OF ARTICLE

This is an article on how to cure Spinal Stenosis and my journey back to health. In this article I will be talking about the causes, the mainstream medical treatments, and the actual non medical mainstream treatments I
have undertook in order to once again be healthy and restore the normal functioning of my back and legs. Spinal Stenosis is no joke: if you are unfortunate enough to come down with this it can seriously affect your life with pain and depression. First things first: My story and how I got this.

    About Myself

I became a truck driver in Janurary 2005. At the time I was 35-36 years old and looking to make some money, I signed up at Schneider National and they sent me to their in house trucking school in Green Bay Wisconsin. Afterwards, I hit the road and drove sitting in a seat 11 hours a day most days, and along with working on the docks and supervising loading and/or sweeping out my truck, I would end up working 14 hours a day for most days. At first being in my mid 30's, I was tired at the end of the day, but still energetic. I was basically my own boss, and as long as I got the load there on time I didn't have anyone breathing down my neck. I saw the country, took breaks, jumped in and out of the cab at truck stops, got a slice of pizza here and there, and drank Monster Energy drinks. I had a lot of energy, I would bound out of the cab and feel energetic when I would fuel the truck. I tried to stay in shape and for the most part succeeded. When I saw I was gaining some weight I bought a cooler and stocked it with ice and just had milk and cereal in the morning with a breakfast bar and for lunch I would have lunch meat sandwiches and for some microwavable ravioli. I worked hard, didn't make much money, but I was healthy. And all the while, I would non stop pound Diet Mountain Dew to stay alert. I was going through about 12 dews a day on average. One when I got up, a few to get me going, always had a can open while driving, some for lunch, some for dinner, and a can of dew and a water next to me on the bunkstand while reading in my bunk listening to satellite radio before going to sleep at the end of my day. I was two weeks out working 14 hours a day on the road, sitting in a seat for 11 hours a day, and then I took two days off at home. I did this for about 2 years then was pretty burned out, so I left schneider and came home and drove a day truck during the day for a couple of years. That was nice because my routes were around the town I lived in, and I was able to work days and come home at the end of the day like a normal person and eat dinner, tv, etc and sleep in my own bed. In 2012, partly due to the recession, a lot of the local day trucking companies were starting to go out of business So I went back to work with Schnieder. This time I would be out for 4 days and home for three days, it was a much better schedule. I used a food cooler, and once again I was pounding the Diet Mountain Dew.  However, I was again working 14 hour days and sitting in a seat in a truck that was bouncing around for 11 hour days. And this time, I was now 43 years old.

    Whats Happening To Me?

So once again Im driving 11 hours a day working 14 hours a day total and I do this for coming up on two years. Suddenly at the end of October/beginning of November 2013 I suddenly notice that when I get up from the drivers chair my feet feel heavy. What the hell? It starts getting worse over the course of a week or two. My legs now feel heavy. Like instead of having shoes on, it feels like I have two big slabs of concrete on when I'm walking. When at a customer or at a repair shop I would walk around the waiting room or down a hallway and it would feel like I'm lurching around like Frankenstein. Heavy heavy legs. It felt like it now took 3-4 times the normal effort to move them.
I was starting to freak out, because this wasn't going away. I started to look around online and figured that maybe due to my diet my arteries were narrowing and the blood supply to my legs were getting cut off with the narrowed arteries and always sitting 11 hours a day each day. I started taking supplements at the health food store that would get rid of the plaque in my arteries including garlic pills.
It started to get worse, and so I saw my Doctor. He diagnosed my with Chronic Spinal Stenosis, which is basically chronic inflammation so bad that the inflamed area around my lower spine is swelling and starting to crush my spinal cord. This was affecting the peripheral nerves that come out of the lower spine that go down the legs which allows you to have the sensation of feedback in your legs, the sensation of touch, and the ability to move your legs. If this condition keeps progressing, eventually I could lose bowel control or even the use of my legs. Nice, huh?
I started to take work off, and was lucky enough to crash with my parents to recover. At the same time it just so happened that my mom broke her back in a fall so I was needed to care for her and I took that same time to begin healing myself.
Unfortunately, the Spinal Stenosis continued to get worse.

    Things get Worse

As the weeks went by and I was off work in January and February, my legs were getting weaker and I was feeling weak in the knees. I would have to climb the stairs like an old man and I dont look like an old man: Here is my picture of myself taken right in the beginning of this. I am 45 years old in this picture.
As far as I can tell, Im a little better off than some 45 year olds I know as my hair is still dark and my face still looks relatively young. But my back and legs were failing me. I would have to climb the stairs like an 80 year old holding on to the rail, all stooped over. My lower back was losing feeling in it, plus there was a general weakness in my core stabilizer lower back muscles right in the lower back area, which felt like all my strength was gone as well as any feeling of well being. My legs were weak and shaky as well when I would walk. And another thing that was causing me pain: when I was using my legs to walk it almost felt as though I was working against my legs muscles to move them and that actually hurt as well. It was torture. I just wanted to sit around all day and not use my legs. And guess what? Then you start to gain weight and get out of shape. Which in turn leads to more inflammation. I was at my wit's end. Why was this happening to me?

So I started looking around for answers. First to my Medical Doctor.

    My Doctor's Take

The first thing my doctor did was send me for a nerve conduction test. So I made an appointment and a week later I hobbled over to the other side of the hospital and went into a room with another doctor and an assistant and they hooked my legs up to shock electrodes and using a diagostic machine with a video monitor ran increasingly larger and larger shock electrical currents down my legs from electrodes attached to them in different places. What the machine was doing was measuring electrical impedence through my periphreal nerve network in my legs to see if they were still intact/ fucntioning properly. It was pretty unconfortable, the doctor would be like, "Get ready, here comes a big shock" and wham, a harsh electrical shock down the leg, and then he would check out the readout to see how much conduction went on through my nerves.
After a few big shocks and small shocks through my legs the doctor then announced that my nerves have been comprimised by some kind of crush event in the lower spine and were rebuilding themselves. He mentioned that there was not much else to be done, perhaps I should have an MRI to take a look.
MRIs are expensive, so I did not have one done. The doctors decided that it wasnt a disk out of place and that it was just inflammation. They prescribed Zoloft, and anti depressant, and basically told me that they could percribe steroids to keep the inflammation down to an extent, and if that doesn't work, well, then there is surgery. Other than that, there was nothing that could be done for me. Medical science pretty much says there is no real cure for Spinal Stenosis, it usually just progresses. They said if it continues to get worse, we will just have to operate on it. I saw what happened to my mom after they operated on her back and put some rods in her spine and readjusted her disks. Her back was never the same again and she was always in pain. I then saw horror stories on the internet and in chat rooms how people elected for back surgery and now they are always in pain. I figured the only way I was going to have my back operated on was in a case of emergency only, such as I am in a car wreck or if I can no longer use my legs. Because from what I see for mild to average cases, being operated on only makes it worse and creates more chronic inflammation. No, I was going to have to find another way.

    Being over 40 and inflammation

One big problem about being on the wrong side of 40 is chronic inflammation. This is when the immune system malfunctions and either 1) attacks an area of tissue in your body causing swelling or 2) The immune system starts to not do its job and there is an infection in an area such as your lower back and it starts to swell up or 3) There is an injury, such as a repetitive work injury like sitting in the same position every day or you have had surgery on your lower back and now the body is going to malfunction and attack the injured site and make it worse with chronic inflammation.
Chronic Inflammation is very common with aging. It can be brought about by many factors. But one thing is for sure: Its a spiraling condition where it causes stress and quicker aging, which in turn causes more chronic inflammation. They feed into each other. This doesn't happen when you are in your 20s because your body is functioning at a premium efficiency fighting inflammation with such natural hormones that are circulating in high levels in your blood: specifically Melatonin and DHEA, which I will cover later on. If you are over 40 and have chronic inflammation you need to stop and reverse this quickly, or you are going to get weaker and more sick and in turn this will cause you to age and get weaker and yes, more sick. Its like your body is the ship and the ship is going down. Like a guest who won't leave, Chronic Inflammation won't go away on its own. You have to be proactive and do something about it.

    What I needed to Do

I now realized that what Spinal Stenosis was, barring any actual disk slip or physical damage from some kind of impact, was essentially just chronic runaway inflammation and that I needed to stop it or I would have a real shit rest of my life and possibly lose the functioning of my legs. So this is how I did it. But first something about a popular destination.

Mayo Clinic for your Spinal Stenosis

One thing people think is that Mayo clinic is the be all end all, that is the final word on illness determination and recovery. When normal doctors are at a loss, they always recommend going to Mayo Clinic. I have had experience with this...let me tell you a bit about my sister and her problem.
Starting in her early 30s she started to have balance problems and feeling light headed and Ill. This sort of came out of no where and she was seeing 2 doctors about it who quite honestly after running a few tests were baffled. There was a meeting and Mayo Clinic was suggested. Did we have insurance? We did, we said. So the decision was made to make the journey up north (Minnesota I believe) to Oz. We were off to see the wizard. If Mayo Clinic could help, well, that would be a big positive as my sisters health was in decline at the young tender age of her early 30s.
She got there and right away she had a meeting with 5 doctors and they reviewed and analyzed her symptoms. Wow, my sister thought. These doctors are on top of things. At last, some answers. They got right to it with a battery of tests. She had a balance test, where she was on a mechanized table that would suddenly tilt and whirl around testing for POTS and other possible conditions. She had other tests over the next three days where they were looking for everything. She dropped a VERY QUICK 10 thousand dollars for these tests and suddenly our insurance company rebelled. There were more tests to take as the doctors wanted more information but now for every step (every test) they wanted to take, they would have to send out a request to the insurance company who would then sit on it for three days before they got back to Mayo. More often than not, the request was denied, or at the very least watered down to the point where the test would have to be changed, or abandoned.
Mayo then realized that my sister was out of money and that there was nothing more that could be done/looked at and thank you very much. We think you may have POTS but without more money there is no going forward.
Mayo Clinic is like a big expensive law firm. They'd love you as a client as long as you have the money. But if you don't have money you are wasting their time and thank you very much. They are cash hogs and they burn through money with expensive tests and consultations. Furthermore, while my sister was waiting for each step to be OK'd by the insurance company, she was paying for a hotel room for three days of down time waiting for decisions.
Its a pricey situation. If you got the coin, I'm sure its a great medical institution that can come down to the reason of your illness, I am not slamming on their expertise. But be prepared to have 50,000-100,000 on reserve especially if you are a unique situation that is confounding normal doctors and they have to do a lot of exploratory testing to determine the cause of your condition.
What about Spinal Stenosis? Does Mayo have a treatment from the year 2234 that will heal it as if you are 20 years old again?
Unfortunately, no. Here is a link right to thier page with the treatments they offer: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/spinal-stenosis/basics/treatment/con-20036105

These treatments are the standard cookie cutter treatments that you can get through your own doctor/hospital system. Drugs, therapy, surgery. And before you went in for any kind of elective back surgery I would try EVERYTHING I said on this blog. Vitamin D. Huge amounts of Vitamin C. The Tibetian Yoga. (The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth by Peter Kelder available on Amazon.com) The Aspartame situation. Hell, simply just start reading right below!!

How To Reverse Spinal Stenosis (Chronic Inflammation)

    1) Super-dose on Vitamin C.

I would like to direct your attention to this site that I found: http://www.doctoryourself.com/stenosis.html
I want you to spend some time and read the ENTIRE page. You got time to have a bad back, you got
time to read the entire page. Now go to the store and buy a small  to medium size jar of Vitamin C
crystals (Ascorbic Acid). The one I use is NOW brand 8 oz jar. I use 5 scoops a day, and according
to the above page link, that is over 10,000 mg (10g) a day. Not only does this drastically improve
your inflammed areas, it provides collegen for rebuilding and drastically improves your immune system.
So much, in fact, that when I feel a cold or cough coming on, I scoop several scoops of this into a big
glass of Orange Juice, slam it, and the next morning I'm fine. No cold. Period. A small note, however,
at the beginning of this protocol it will cause a bit of stomach upset and gas. Then you will adjust to it.
You can buy this at any health food store or GNC.

    2. Turmeric root and Ginger root

I would recommend that you buy these not pre processed in a jar, but in raw root form sitting in a bin
much like you would buy onions or tomatoes in the vegetable section at the grocery store. Seeing that
these two roots arent that common, you can find them at a health food store like Whole Foods or
in the Chicago area, I know that Mariano's has them. If you cant find them fresh, then go to GNC and
get them in pill form. Both of these GREATLY cut down on inflammation. I peel them, dice them up
and throw them in the blender with some orange juice and some cayenne pepper. I then pour the
mixture into an old juice bottle and throw in a scoop of the above vitamin c and slam it like a shot.
Bad aftertaste to the point where you will wince, but hey, this is medicine. I do two of these a day. The
mixture I made after dicing and mixing in the blender that I put in the juice bottle will last several days
          in the fridge. x2 daily.

    3. Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar and Arm and Hammer Baking Soda

You can find a small bottle of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) at any Target. Simply put a table
spoon or two of ACV in a juice glass, add about half a glass of water, then mix in a teaspoon of
baking soda. This will make the mixture foam up. Now add a half teaspoon of honey, and stir mixture
with the spoon and down it like a shot. ACV has been shown to decrease inflammation and the
baking soda decreases acidity in the body, also decreasing inflammation. You can go online and read
user stories how people take this 2 times a day to stop inflammation in the body.

    4. Stop Drinking Diet Coke: Aspartame is Poison!!!

You might find this one a little wierd, but this is dead serious. Remember when I said earlier in my
story that I was a diet Mountain Dew addict and I was pounding cans of MT Dew like they were
going out of style? Well as it turns out, this actually most likely had a good part of what happened
to my back. I want you to watch the below video IN ITS ENTIRETY so you can get up to speed
          on aspartame and its dangers.
Have you watched the video? Holy Shit!! Now I want you to read the below link of a guy that was
getting more and more mystery inflammation and then went cold turkey on all Aspartame. You will
have to read his account to find out what happened: http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/arthritis/

I would advise that you take this very seriously: Weak legs and a bad back is no joke and you will
have to do anything in your power to go down this list and try and or eliminate everything that I am
presenting to you here. Yes, if you are addicted to diet drinks diet yogurt, artificial sweetener for
your coffee you are going to be jonesing for the above. But your back is going to heal. And so will
    Melatonin
         your legs.

    5. Melatonin and DHEA

When you are in your 20's your body is awash with both of these hormones. Melatonin and DHEAare responsible for growth and repair. So much so in fact that they are responsible for an entire
cascade of events in the body: Nerve Growth Factor hormones, Human Growth Hormone, testosterone, estrogen, follicle stimulating hormone, the list goes on and on. While you are young your body operates
    DHEA
at peak efficiency of repair and growth. After 40, both of these hormones significantly begin to dry up
and things are no longer being repaired and inflammation begins as everything starts its downward slide.
Buy a 3mg bottle of Melatonin and take a pill before you go to sleep and by day 3 you will notice that your inflammation is greatly reduced as Melatonin interferes with inflammation signaling that can lead  to inflammation. DHEA also does the same thing. Anther thing that both of these hormones do is cause damaged nerves to regrow, and many scientific journals have had papers published that demonstrate this fact. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=melatonin+heals+periphreal+nerves please note
that the first three returns are scientific papers.

    6. Lecithin

Lecithin can be bought in your health food store and comes in a bottle of granules that you can mix
into any drink. They dissolve into certain fats that rebuild your nerve axion fiber and sheath in damaged
nerves. Take this 2- 3 times a day. Relatively cheap and very effective.

    7. No Sugar! At all!

Sugar causes inflammation like you wouldn't believe. While you are healing there is absolutely no
sugar allowed. Go ahead. Test this. Be doing the above protocol and after a few days of no sugar
go on out and get a large regular coke and McDonalds and drink it. A few hours later your back will
be hurting again and your legs bothering you. You need to cut inflammation. No sugar. Watch pre
packaged foods as well for sugar. It is best that you make your own food from scratch while dealing
with this and not be eating prepackaged processed foods.

    8. The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth

Go to my other post where I talk about aging and my experiences with doing this yoga. Pay particular
attention to the series of videos that I talk about that this lady made journaling her progress with this
yoga. Every week she made a video of herself and by week 5-6 she actually appeared younger. And it
kept going in each video she posted. You can check this out for yourself by clicking  HERE.
I have found many sites on the internet with people who regularly do these exercises experiencing
massive physical regeneration and almost total reversal of arthritic symptoms. Also, if you go to
Amazon and look up "The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth" by Peter Kelder and look at all
the customer reviews comments, you can see that this is the real deal. I myself have been doing these
exercises and they have helped tremendously.

    9.  Join A Health Club And Exercise

If you continue to lay around, your inflammation is going to get worse. Research has shown that exercise
actually cuts down on the infalmmation process in the body and at the same time increases human
growth hormone (the repair hormone) and this also cuts back on inflammation. But this a two edged
sword: If you DON'T do this and lay around, you are going to gain weight and your imflammation is
going to get worse. Start slow. Don't over do it. Lightly start aerobic exercise by slowly riding the
exercise bike. Depending on your physical condition, you might also want to lightly work out with
wieghts, be it free wieghts, machines, or light dumbbell work. All of this will slowly bring your body back.

    10. Towel Rub

It sounds stupid, but vigoursly rub a dry towel around your back and legs. It helps if you have a shirt on
and there is static electricity. Static electricity has been shown to decrease inflammation. Do this twice a
         day.

    11. Alternate Frozen Ice Pack/Heating Pad Lower Back

Get down on the floor and watch some tv and put a frozen ice pack in the small of your back between
yourself and the floor underneath you. When that is all nice and cold, suddenly switch out the frozen
pack for a heating pad that you already have set on high. Switch these back and forth several times over
the course of 20 minutes. This greatly increases blood flow to the lower back and aids healing and
         cuts inflammation.

Well that is pretty much it and should do it to cure you of your Spinal Stenosis. But you have got to do more than read the above you actually have to DO it. And Im guessing since there is so little information on how to cure this on the internet that you are actually going to go ahead and try this. What do you have to lose? Don't forget to also meditiate. See yourself at age 25 in perfect health and imagine that your body is reverting to the 25 year old you and do this 3 times a day for 2 minutes each.
Soon I will do a second part on this for really stubborn cases. The above should help 90% of all that read this. Good luck and thanks for reading!

    UPDATE JULY 08 2016-----------------------------------------------------------------

After some reasearch and some doctors I finally found out what happened to me. It turns out it was a cascade of failures that caused my Spinal Stenosis.

    1. At age 43 I started to drive a truck. Causing me big physical inactivity for 11 hours a day in a seat. No exercise. Bad diet. Living on soft drinks and sandwiches and fast food.

    2. My back started recieving some injury via repetitive work stress injury bouncing around in a truck seat all day.

3.My blood sugar started to rise and get a bit out of control via my bad diet and constant softdrinks and no exercise.

    4. Therefore the acid levels and sugar levels in my bloodstream started to rise. The human body has a very narrow operating range as far as acid levels are concerned. Too much can cause death. The body deals with this immediately by attempting to lower the acid levels by using Calcium. Calcium has a positive charge and the body uses it to pull acid in your bloodstream out by using Calcium as a sponge. The problem is after it uses some calcium to mop up some of the acid, it is left holding a pile of acidic soaked Calcium. It has to put it somewhere out of the bloodstream. Again, too much acid in the bloodstream is death.

    5. I wasnt getting enough calcium in my diet, not drinking enough milk. Therefore my teeth started to crumble as my body started going after calcium to get calcium. I had one tooth fall apart in my mouth and had to see a dentist for an emergency appointment. I had all sorts of cavities and tooth problems.

    6. Back to number 4 above, my body needed somewhere to put the acid soaked calcium. Couldn't filter it out my kidneys, as that would cause kidney damage, or dispose of it out my bowels as it was already in my blood. So my body decided to shore up the point of recurring damage, my lower back that was getting banged around for 11 hours a day in the car seat. The body says, "Hey. Its a win win. I can have a place to dump this acid out of the blood and at the same time I can shore up the lower back with calcium/bone material to help protect against further repetitive stress damage.

    7. So my body starts shoring up my lower spine with additional bone material as a dumping ground for the acid/calcium bone, and my lower spine starts thickening up. The problem with this is your spine has hollow points and holes all over it as your spinal cord, the bodys nerves superhighway runs through it, with smaller nerves branching off through the spinal cord via 'offramps' servicing nerves to your legs, bowels, lower body, feet, toes, etc. As the bone starts builidng up , nerves start to get crowded, and eventually start to get crushed.

    8. Fast forward to 6 months later when I finally stood up one day from my seat and my legs felt like they were heavy and full of concrete. I now had nerve damage and my legs were now feeling heavy and tired and this went on for two years.

    9. Seeing that I havent been changing my diet much, this continued for quite a while. Heavy tired legs, core felt weak, hard time walking up the stairs, hard time getting out of a chair like an old man. Zest for life gone. No longer wanted to go out. Saw doctors, did an MRI, did the nerve conduction test that you can read about in the above section.

    NOW FOR THE CURE

Here it is in a nutshell.
    1. You have to bring your body into a state of anti acid, or alkalinity. (Baking soda, salt, lemons)
    2. You must hydrate your body
    3. You must do a certain 2 excerises
Lets talk about number 1 above. What was it that caused this in the first place? Your body trying to squirrel away the acid out of your blood onto your lower spine. Remember I said that the body can operate in a very narrow range of acidosis? It likes to operate at a PH level of 7.35-7.45 on a scale of 1-9. If the body notices that there is not enough acid in the body because you are drinking lots of healthy water, drinking NO SODAS (very acidic. Sodas have a ph range of 2.5 to 3. Battery acid has a PH level of 1. Check out this chart:)http://www.kidsdentistdrwinn.com/clientuploads/PDFs/Acidity%20Sheet%20Sheet1.pdf
When you adjust your acid levels to above 7.5, your body will actually start looking around for acid to balance it back out as you are too alkaline to put it back in its comfortable operating range. So it will start looking around for acid. And it will find acid all Spackled up where it had previously been hiding it away, in my case my lower spine. In my case, it will start dissolving the bone/calcium/acid material that it had packed there earilier in order to get at the acid and re release it into my blood to balance the deficit. Yes. reread that last sentence. This in effect will start to remove the bone buildup in my lower spine that is my spinal stenosis. As the calcium bone is stripped away for the acid, the nerves become freed up and healing can begin.
Hydration is vital. Your disks in your back will collapse without adequate hydration and your acid levels will climb without it. As your disks collapse, they rupture and can press against your spinal cord causing nerve pain and heavy legs.
I went to a doctor symposium on this. The doctors said that in order to heal your back you must adequatly hydrate, hang upsidedown and sit on a big gym ball and move your back front to back and side to side while sitting on the gym ball while holding onto something steady with both of your arms while you are rolling the ball back and forth front to back and side to side with your but. This allows the water and nutreiets to rush into your spinal segments between your spinal segments to repair and reydrate your spinal collomn, getting the pressure off your nerves.
I personally hang upside down on my staircase at a 45 degree angle with my ankles hooked into the banister at the top. However I cannot recommend that for legal reasons as there is a good possibility of you trying it and falling down the stairs headfirst and paralyzing yourself. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS.  Instead, i would look into getting yourself an inversion table. You can go onto amazon and shop for this.
Next go to amazon and get yourself an inflatable gym ball. On amazon.com just type in exercise ball.

You only need to hang upside down for about 10 minutes once a day for your spinal cord to decompress. You only need to workout with the excercise ball once a day for about 10-15 minutes as well. Remember, sit on the ball and have your arms on a stationary object/objects. Roll your butt around on the ball from side to side and front to back while still sitting on the ball to get blood and water movement and hydration into your spine after you do the upside down spinal hang/stretch.
So you hang upside-down for about 10 minutes (feels UNBELIEVABLE stretching out your back. You will be moaning and grunting with pleasure) and then move onto the excercise ball movements that I described above.
Have a bottle of water with you all day drinking it all day. No coffee or sugar or even diet soda drinks, as they are still way high in acid.
In that bottle of water you need to have lemon juice from fresh squeezed lemons, and half a teaspoon of baking soda (not baking powder). Just a slice of lemon squeezed into the top of the bottle is sufficient, and then half a teaspoon of arm and hammer baking soda. Make sure the lemon slice is squeezed into the top of the bottle, add the half teaspoon of baking soda and then shake it up. Take about 5 of these per day. While lemon juice is actually acidic on its own, once in the body it rapidly converts to anti acid. Also, baking soda is very alkaline as well. Both of these will rapidly bring your PH up close to 8 rapidly, thus bringing you into a state of health. If you eat clean, salads, no fast food, or soft drinks, etc, your stenosis will begin to reverse as your body will start coming after the calcium buildup material for the acid in your neck or back or whereever your body was storing the acidic calcium it was using to keep your acid levels in your blood from going too high.
Here is a video by a guy who uses baking soda to get rid of his diabetes:

There is one last piece of the puzzle.
Did you know that you can still be dehydrated after drinking a whole lot of water? Thats because you are missing essential salt. We evolved on a planet that is mostly salt water. All animals need salt for proper cell/water metabolism. We die without salt. We traded salt in ancient times and animals had trails that would lead to salt to satisfy their requirements. I would recommend that you watch the below video on how to fix your dehydration problem and therefore fix your back: YOU MUST BE PROPERLY HYDRATED IN ORDER TO FIX YOUR STENOSIS and IN ORDER TO BE PROPERLY HYDRATED YOU NEED SALT!

The above video focuses on dehyration and the crippling effects thereof (panic attacks) but this is how you properly rehydrate yourself. You need MINERALIZED SALT water in order to pull the water into your body cells to properly hydrate.

There is your cure. To recap: No sugar, fast food, eat clean, salads, etc, chicken, rice. Constant water with baking soda and lemon juice. salt water 2x a day from the above video to be able to absorb the water you are taking in, exercise, hang upside down, use the exercise ball as directed before. Work out once a day.

    4/27/2017 APERTAME UPDATE!!

I stumbled on this quite by accident. I just got back from a trip to the Dominican Republic with my brother. He had just won a trip for himself through high sales output from his company CDW and as he is not seeing anyone right now, he had a +1 ticket and decided to take me along. Now, to set this up, I am/was a diet Mountain Dew addict. Nothing like a crisp cold Mountain Dew. Wake up in the morning, have one, good as cold water in the face and coffee. Remember my trucker story from above? While I was trucking I would go through a sleeve a day of Mountain Dew to keep me alert behind the wheel. Now that I no longer drive a truck, Im still drinking dew all day. Before I go to sleep at night I typically sit up in bed with a backrest behind me and watch a tv show on my tablet. And what do I have on my nightstand next to me? A water and a mountain dew. Ill even wake up in the middle of the night and have a sip of both. So I go on the trip and we arrive in the hotel room at the resort. All they had in the hotel fridge stocked was bottled water, a few beers and a few cokes (non diet, regular sugar.). Im doing some drinking the first day, CDW has a company party on the beach etc. I get back to the hotel room and Im pounding water and some coke from the room fridge and go to sleep. I wake up at about 3am with a very bad headache. I drink more water figuring that Im dehydrated from drinking. Still have the headache in the morning and I wake up feeling hung over and feeling like I have the flu. Not wanting to drag on my brothers vacation, I drag myself out of bed have another water, and half a coke and go eat breakfast by the beach feeling like Im gonna toss my cookies. We then lay down in a covered cabana on the white sand. I feel ill until about 2pm then I start to pull it together. Long story short, for the next couple of days I have reocurring headaches and kept chasing it with bottles of water trying to stay hydrated in the warm humid island atmosphere. Then I start to notice that my lower back is feeling good and my legs do not feel heavy anymore. It suddenly hit me on the last day: I have not had any aspertame via diet drinks in 5 days...Ive been detoxing and now I can walk just fine.

This blew my mind. Has a poison that Ive been drinking been responsible for all the suffering Ive endured for the last 2 years? So I got home and researched and found the following extreamly informative article:

    http://kellythekitchenkop.com/do-you-have-these-aspartame-withdrawal-symptoms/

I have stopped drinking all diet drinks and stopped using all diet sweeteners. I suggest you do the same. It has made the world of difference for me inside of a week. But you say you LOVE your diet coke. But do you love suffering a bad back, heavy legs and ;pain? Get your priorities straight. I welcome comments at the end of this post.

Thank you for reading, and I hope the above cures your spinal stenosis so you can go forth and live the life you were meant to live!

This is a lot of information so please go back and reread especially after the part where I say HERE IS THE CURE.

I hope this message finds you in good health. I've recently been diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis myself and find your post very encouraging. Can you give me additional details of your protocol? Was Vitamin C the game changer?

Sam, I am still working on it with several new items. A few things...1.) The acid levels in your blood. If you are drinking diet pop or normal sugar pop several times a day and eating high acidic foods your acid blood PH could go up to 3.5 or 4. Neutral is 7.4. With high acid in your blood your body uses calcium to bind with the acid in your blood and then it attempts to put it somewhere as a deposit to get it out of your blood stream. It puts it in your joints and your lower back trying to shore things up. The bone starts to thicken and thats stenosis, your nerves start to get pinched. My recommendation: Eat an alkaline diet with low glycemic fruits and leafy vegetables and keep the calcium very low for a while. With a PH now of 7.5-8 in your blood the process will reverse and the excess deposits and bone in your spine will start to be reversed as your body goes after it for the calcium and acid it has stored there, thus freeing up your nerve canal. Start with this (its hard to diet and lose the coffee and the diet or sugar soda drinks) and also take a teaspoon of Apple Cider vinegar, a teaspoon and a half of arm and hammer baking soda and mix them together in a glass of water. Add some natural honey to taste. The arthritis and pain in your lower back in conjunction with the acid free no soda/coffee diet will stop the pain in about 2 weeks. Good luck!

Mark, thank you for the additional write-up. Sometimes a little assurance goes a long way, especially when the symptoms are so unsettling. Let me try out your suggestions.

I try to limit myself to two sodas a week but will cut them out completely. Thankfully, I dont care at all for coffee. I'm also using MSM, hyaluronic acid, vitamin D3 and K per the recommendations on earth clinic.

I found a good sturdy chair and a towel wedge that slopes your legs down gently from the hips to the knees to keep the spine anteverted helps when sitting for long intervals, but I still try to remember to stand up every 15 minutes.

Magnesium salts applied topically as a natural muscle relaxant also relieves pain for me.

Sam, I see you have the vitamin D, good. Now take your shirt off and get sun in the backyard for 1/2 hour a day. That is the main way we synthesize our own natural vitamin D. The Sun. I know what it feels like to be in constant pain, it sits on your shoulder like a vulture all day long. It can rob your Summer, you can no longer do the things you want to do. That's why you have to attack it head on because it attacks you without mercy. Think about it. If you owed the IRS money, they would keep coming after you like a Terminator. You have to be the same about your pain, keep coming at it until you had the body you once had. Get a mean on. Give it no quarter. Get your blood alkalinity up. Apple Cider Vinegar/Baking soda/honey in the amounts stated in the first comment...do that 3 times a day. Keep your foods non acidic and your carbs low glycemic. Lots of leafy greens. No diet or sugar cokes, no coffee. Lots of water all day long, with a lemon wedge squeezed and stuffed in the water bottle.
TRY IT. There is another thing that you should be doing that can make the difference like night and day...the five Tibetan rites. Do a search on this on google. "The five Tibetan Rites". They are a series of 5 yoga poses with breathing that you do every day for about 5 minutes. It fixes and heals your body. So the below list just doesnt simply go for pain relief (thats just coping) but instead goes to heal the problem.
    1. Low acid diet No colas +low glycemic foods
    2. Use cinnamon and water to control your blood insulin. Look this up on google. Plenty of info.
    3. ACV/baking soda/honey 3x a day every day
    4. five Tibetan rites- look this up on google. You will find webpages with pictures of people doing the rites and how to do them.

If you do the above list and you don't have a major problem in your lower spine such as a slipped disk or bone deformation (discuss with your doctor about getting a MRI to check these things out...they need to do an MRI [not a cat scan, not x rays] to really see whats going on in there) to really know whats up with your back. If it is really just stenosis where the nerve is getting pinched due to bone build up doing the above list will change your pain from a 8 or 9 down to a 2 in a month as your body in its alkaline state goes after the calcium and acid deposits that it built up causing your stenosis in the first place. And hopefully from there, onward to a pain rating of zero. Stick with it.

    HI Mark,

    Thanks for this blog.

I have lumbar spinal stenosis and have been looking for alternative treatments to a Lumbar Spinal Fusion surgery (recommended by the Neurosurgeon).

I'll definitely give this a go, and just wanted to say thanks a lot for posting such useful information.

Just a question too: do you see yourself as managing the problem or healed completely? Either way, just great to find some useful information.

    Thanks

    Brendan

    Hey Brendan,

Know this: Doctors have a very narrow view (no pun intended) of what to do with Spinal Stenosis. The first thing they will recommend is physical therapy. Then the next thing they go to is surgery.
My mom has had surgery on her back and I have known other people as well. The one thing I notice? They are never the same again. They are always in pain, their movement is now restricted.
I dont think I know of anyone who has had elective back surgery and was happy and again like they used to be. No one.
Here is how I see it: Unless the pain is keeping you down off your feet, or you have had a bad accident and if you dont do the surgery you will lose the use of your legs, etc., that is when you have surgery.
Before you make any decisions, I would do what was said in this blog. Change your high acidic diet to an alkaline diet.
You are thinking about having back surgery. I would seriously enact what I wrote about in this blog first in a hardcore fashion to see if you can avoid it. Sure its a pain in the ass to totally change how you eat. I myself am almost totally healed. I can run again, move freely again, my legs are no longer heavy. Really: what do you have to lose by doing what I talked about in the blog and putting the surgery off for 6 or 8 months? By then, you very well be fine.

Doctors and the pharmaceutical industry are kind of like a two edged sword. Great for some things, bad for others. Stenosis sort of falls on the bad side. They are there to make money via meds and surgery. Unless you are in a severe medical crisis, try my way first.
Let me put my tin foil hat on: I have heard of many cures for cancer and aids that have been suppressed. Check it out by googling it. There will be pages of this subject including specific cases. Why would the AMA and the pharmaceutical industry do this? Because of billions. They make billions on the return meds that Aids patients have to constantly take each month. Billions on the treatment of cancer. If you cure those two things with one or two treatments the money goes away. Its kind of like if the United States suddenly legalized all drugs, the violent Mexican and south American cartels would disappear in a wisp of smoke. Follow the money.
But in my rant, I digress. Brendan, follow my advice, and stick to it in a militant fashion and I am 90%+ your back problem will reverse.

Thanks Mark. Really appreciate your reply.

Yes, I have studied all the stuff you've got down and will go hell for leather on this.

Your story resonated with me - I'm 41 and been pretty athletic in the past. So I was pretty bummed out when the surgeon basically jumped to all the different ways he could carve me up: from the back, from the side, going over the top or underneath. It was a shock. (I'm in Australia, by the way).

In studying this condition more, it seems more and more that inflammation of the sciatic nerve is at the heart of the problem. I've read heaps of stuff that says that disc degeneration is pretty common (another one I've got) and it doesn't necessarily lead to pain. The real issue seems to be, if I understand right, that of the inflammation of the nerve.

Anyway, I went out and got all these vitamins and attacking it all head on.

Not too cheery thinking that (a) surgery is the answer (b) that I can't stand up more than 5 mins without being in pain.

Will keep you posted on this --- thanks so much again for sharing this. It is a really big help!

    Brendan,

A few more things before you go. First, welcome to the wrong side of 40 club. Here you will find that inflammation is quite common. Your problem is my problem. When I got my MRI (I eventually did) they didn't find any slipped or damaged disks. So then what was causing the nerve to be pinched was inflammation/calcium build up as I described in the blog.
There is something that knocks inflation right out of the park. Apple Cider Vinegar/Baking Soda/Honey.
Take a small glass, (8oz juice glass) pour just over a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) then fill the glass three fourths full of bottled water. Now put in a half teaspoon of baking soda in. The mixture will foam. Now add a bit of honey and stir. It tastes good. By day three with 2 of these a day you will suddenly start to feel the pressure easing in your lower back. This drink kills inflammation. As the pressure eases in your lower back (the inflammation retreating) your nerves will start to decompress. (Metric conversion of above measurements, google it) The nice thing is ACV, baking soda (not baking powder), and honey are all dirt cheap, found at your local supermarket or store.
I got one more and this is important.
A book called 'The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth' by Peter Kelder. You can get this off of amazon.
Or if you dont feel like dropping any money, you can just look up these exercises on google, they have plenty of websites on it. The exercises are called the 5 Tibetan Rites. They take about 15 minutes to do.
And for me, the results have been amazing on my back and legs. After doing them for three days you will suddenly be at 50% less pain. After 3 months, you will think you are 25 and what pain? I cannot recommend this enough. For 15 minutes a day of light exercise that this book/or free websites that show you how to do the 5 rites you will reap amazing benefits. There is a specific reason these work, but as for now I will tell you do not skip more than one day, do not freeze or get a chill or be cold in the shower or after you get out of the shower, or wake up in the middle of the night cold, etc. Another benefit is you will suddenly look/move/feel/act much younger to the point that when new people meet you they will assume that you are a much younger age than you are. People that know you that haven't seen you for a while will be looking at you trying to figure out whats different..check out my two pictures on my other post on this site about hair. The one is taken when I was 40. Then next one was taken when I was 45. See any difference? I have been doing the 5 rites for a couple of years now. That post is here http://parityhedgesystemcraps.blogspot.com/2014/05/how-to-stop-losing-hair-and-regrow-it.html

If you do the ACV/baking soda/honey (2x/day) AND the 5 Tibetian Rites everyday WITHOUT skipping any days, you will find that your body will think it is 1998 again.

    Hi Mark,

Again really appreciate your generosity ...

Got a copy of the 5 rites and working through it.

Love the idea of the ACV/baking soda/honey. Will get on to it.

I am totally pumped to try these out. For me, I really just want to be able to stand around with other people than having to rush to sit down, or to be able to walk for a couple of miles without feeling absolutely terrible.

One interesting thing I found is that lots of spinal stenosis sufferers have shortages of Vitamin D and Vitamin B12. is this something you have found too?

Determined to conquer this bastard of a thing, will keep the faith :-)

Yes. A severe deficiency of Vitamin D was found in my system when they did blood tests. So much so that my doctor prescribed vitamin D pills. I would assume the reason to be that when I was a kid, I drank a lot of milk. Milk in my cereal in the morning, several glasses a day, a glass of milk with dinner and with lunch. Now I grab a bagel and coffee for breakfast and drink mountain dew. All horrible. Bagel has high glycemic carbs causing a big insulin response (you get fat) and the Mtn Dew causes high acidity in your system. It wouldn't hurt at all to get Vitamin D pills at your store.
And of course, the above acv/bakingsoda/honey and the 5 Tibetan rites.
Good luck and keep me updated.

Holy Cow, Mark! Around 3 days in - you aren't wrong.

I don't know what kind of weird magic food voodoo/exercise combo this is, but I have to say that I'm feeling really good.

The stenosis has really calmed down, and from 90% pain, probably dropped down to around 50% in the past few days, and in the first few hours no pain at all - it's remarkable.

The jury is still out (I'm one part believer, on part skeptic) but I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.

When I get a bit more time, I'll write out my story too - it's very similar to yours: drinking too many drinks with aspartame - that is lethal - stopping exercise and making the problem worse, eating all the wrong foods.

    Mark Laechel said...

The ACV/baking soda/honey isn't voodoo, its correcting your acid levels in your blood stream and stopping the inflammation. Keep on that twice a day.

As for the 5 tibetian rites, that gets into some mystical stuff. Ill keep it brief. On a Quantum level we are nothing but an energy cloud. We have what appears to be a solid body, but in reality, we are 99% empty space. The reason we feel solid is because our atoms are ordered so we feel solid, held together by force fields, or the force/attraction between the atoms. Woah, huh?
Anyway you have your solid physical body and then you have your auric energy field that surrounds your body. What happens in your auric body eventually happens in your physical body. Chakras are the transformers between your auric body and your physical body. As you age, your chakras stop spinning as quick as they used to and start losing force and do not project out as much as they used to from your body. Less vitality. As this happens, your physical body follows suit and your physical flesh starts aging. However, if you do these 5 exercises (the five tibetian rites) religiously, you jump-start those chakras and force them to spin up and outwards like they did in your 20s. And eventually the flesh follows suit, suddenly you skin/body/nervous system/face start looking/acting like they did in your 20s. Kinda like the tail wagging the dog, the force coming through the other way via the 5 tibetian rites.
I know, sounds crazy. However I have been doing it several years, and my brother who is 8 years younger than me looks older than me. But when I stop during several periods where I tested this, I quickly noticed that within 3 weeks I started looking my age again. Body started hurting, started looking old, grey hair returning. This is a permanent jack. You have to do the rites every day. If I continue to do the rites everyday without missing a day, who knows. Maybe I will continue to look the same in the year 2047. But hey. To remain young and healthy for a long stretch? There are worse things that can happen to you.
Read the above what I wrote and call it Malarkey.
However from doing both the ACV/Baking Soda/Honey and the 5 Tibetan rites what happened to you in 3 days is exactly what I said will happen...so there is that. Keep it up.

    Mark

Yes it's pretty powerful stuff for sure.

I'm definitely not missing a beat on this. I got to be totally honest, I really thought yoga was not for me. I'd tried a couple of times and my wife is nuts about it but I couldn't get into it - this is absolutely great though. It's getting easier and more enjoyable each time and I can appreciate the mysticism about it. It makes you feel great.

My comments about voodoo may have sounded a bit dismissive but on the contrary I'm simply amazed how effective it all is. Going from having a metal clip surgical placed in my back and an artificial disc - with a strong likelihood of a lifetime of pain - to having lots of hope and optimism about the future, I can't thank you enough for putting this info on line.

It's still early days - I just can't thank you enough - you've become a hero in our household Mark!

I know it's probably going to take 3-6 months to see the big benefits - one glass and one rites at a time.

By the way, is it important to have honey mixed in? I've just been having the cider and baking soda straight up.

Another one, I've noticed that my sciatica has moved from running down my back and leg (which was really painful) to pain being centralised to just my calf muscle and shin.

Can you tell me how you noticed the pain disappearing? Was it gradual or sudden?

    Can't thank you enough Mark!

    Brendan,

As your body repairs the nerve damage it works its way fixing it down your leg, so at first you will have some sore spots. With your nerves no longer compressed due to the inflammation leaving and the calcium build up leaving, its going down your leg and repairing the axional connections between the nerve cells. At first my entire legs were weak and tired. Then as that fixed itself, there were problem spots still left in my calf, etc, then that eventually got repaired.
Remember, you are only on the 4th-6th? day. The five Tibetan rites take about 3 days to kick in, then at the end of 3 weeks there is a sudden burst of vitality, then again at three months.
If you have the means, I would also suggest an inversion table. You can find these on amazon, seeing that amazon is quickly becoming the world marketplace. This will decompress your spine while all this is going on and it feels great. I myself hang upside down on my stairs with my feet hooked in the banister. Dont try that because it is super dangerous, I need to spring for the inversion table. Then I have a big gym ball I use as I stated in my blog to sit on and rotate around to get the nutrients/water in my back. I found that trick at a doctors convention for stenosis. Invert, then sit on the ball with your arms stationary and rotate side to side and back to front rolling on the ball with your rear. This hydrates your disks in your spine and rebuilds the material between the disks. Again, I covered this in the blog.
I used to think yoga was BS. I remember it became the rage in the 1970s then disappeared a while in the 1980s as aerobicise became popular and had a resurgence again in the 90s. However one day in the mid 90s I was at a bookstore and was browsing and my eyes locked on a book called "The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth." I tried it and I noticed the following things. By day three my face started having more color in it and was becoming oily again like it was when I was younger. By day 5 i was having feelings of 'well being' in the center of myself. I also notice that I was sleeping way deeper and more efficiently. Instead of staying up late, by 11pm I was tired and slept deeply. And when I woke up, I woke up refreshed, not dead tired like I used to. I started losing bodyfat and gaining muscle. I assumed that my testosterone and Human Growth Hormone levels were rising causing this.
There is Yoga, and there is next level stuff such as 'The five Tibetian Rites'. If you want, you can go to amazon, look up the book "The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth" and select that one book that has like 300+ user reviews. Select 'read newest ones first' and check out some of those. Some of those stories are amazing. You will also note a few 1 star reviews. Those are people that really didn't try them, or do them correctly at all. I read these and I really get a big picture of the power of this yoga.
I assume there will be a time when you slack/stop/stop on purpose in order to test this. You will note that instead of watching a film running backwards, suddenly the film will start running forwards again and you will start once again feeling aches and pains and looking older. Know this: you will be chained to this in order to remain/feel young. Those monks in the Monistary in Tibet do it every day as a matter of their routine. And the result is there are monks that are 130 years old who appear 30. Judging from my pics from my other blog this seems to have merit.
Yes, this is powerful stuff and it will continue to give you benefits as long as you stick with it. There are warnings in the book...dont skip more than one day a week, if you get cold or get chills it will undo the work that you did because shivering slows down your chakras. Keep your shower room very warm. Do not be cold while you sleep at night, or when you go outside.
If I have the ability to help just one person get his or her life back, then this blog did its job.

Let me know how you do!

    Mark

    So back again Mark.

It's been a little while since I started on bashing through your tips. They very much work - so I'd recommend to anyone else who has spinal stenosis to give them a go. They really do work.

Here's a few more things to add to the conversation:

    1. My story relates very closely to the one Mark describes on his blog. Over the last few years and around the same age as Mark when he identified his stenosis (around late 30s/early 40s), I was building a company and found myself sitting a lot - in planes, behind the desk working on the computer, in taxis, cars etc This was really creating havoc on my lower back.

    2. I was knocking back a lot of Diet Coke. It is poison for sure. Just cutting this out completely has done my body a world of good.

    3. I drank a lot of coffee with sugar many times a day. Aside from keeping me wired, it is really acidic and I believe has done a lot of damage to my body.

    4. I got overweight. Because I was working my butt off, I'd skip going to the gym or exercising. This was a huge mistake.

    5. I was carrying a laptop around with me all day. I'm sure that this was no good for me.

    6. While my wife is a great cook, I was eating lots of crap food: hamburgers, pizza, fast food etc. If I had known that these foods cause inflammation and pain, I'd have had second thoughts.

    7. Got lots of stress from my company. With 70 employees, some challenging situations and the like, stress is pretty part and parcel of the job.

    Changes

After reading lots of spinal stenosis - mine is apparently congenital (I'm sure that my bad habits is what brought it on) - I came across Mark's blog and it was a real revelation for me. Here are quite a number of changes I've made:

    1. Reducing inflammation. My diet has changed a lot, I eat a lot of fruits and vegies etc. Soups are now a good friend, and particular anti-inflammatory foods are noticeably different. What I eat really impacts the state of my body and level of pain.

    2. Yoga moves. The 5 rites definitely do work. At first, I was a bit annoyed to do this. However, there are marked differences if I do or don't break these moves out each morning and how my day goes. If I do these moves then I feel much stronger and healthier and confident. On an aside, having this condition can really mess with your confidence. Let's face it, it is not too much fun to be in social situations where you need to stand up or walk around. Still managing this, but my feeling is that it is better to try than sit around.

    3. Vitamins and water as described by Mark. All the tips in fact, make a big difference.

    4. Cox Technique. One thing I've found that works really well is the Cox technique run by chiropractors. I suspect it is very similar to inversion tables, not sure. Anyhow, this technique is something that works really well.

    5. Acupuncture. This works in a really weird way. Not sure what exactly is going on but it impacts both body and mind. Besides from that, it is cool to have needles in your hand and figuring out a way to relax.

    6. Stretching can be really good. Lots of good videos on the web and professional advice to help.

    7. Getting better, more shock absorbent shoes.

    8. Trying to manage stress using a few of the above techniques, as well as restructure the company.

    The Results

Some of the basic results I've got so far (and mind you, I'm only a few weeks in):

    1. Lost quite a lot of weight. This has lightened the load and got me feeling a bit better.

    2. I can do my morning walk to work - around 1.55 miles/ 2.5 km -- each morning with little to no pain. So this is fantastic as before I could hardly walk 10 metres without having to sit down.

    3. Most of the day I feel pretty good - the pain is less. By late afternoon the pain kicks in and occasionally got a bit of extreme pain in the evening when I get home.

    4. Strangely I feel like I have a bit more control over life, despite having some limitations on what I'm doing. I kind of find it enjoyable identifying food that is better for me and that it is going to reduce inflammation.

    5. Attitude. I have my highs and lows still. Lots of the healthy living tips are slow changes that I'm hoping will pay off over time. The alternative is sitting around on my ass watching the world go by - no thanks!

    6. Not so great on the stress management - just will keep plugging away.

Once again, thanks Mark for making a great site.

That's my two cents. Will check in later to provide more of an update on progress.

That sounds like great progress, good for you.

Two things: 1. Are you doing the 5 Tibetan rites every day without fail? This is very much the cornerstone. I know that it feels like you are chained to it, and as a matter of fact, you are. Seeing that you have been on this planet for 40 something odd years, unless you do the yoga you will just be a 40 something attempting to keep the pain at bay by eating lettuce and not drinking diet coke. If you do the yoga daily your body will be tricked into thinking its 29 years old and then all the other stuff you are doing will have amazing effects.

    2. Are you still taking the baking soda/Apple cider vinegar/honey drink several times a day to keep your acid levels down? You have to keep your body in an alkaline balance pretty much at all times in order for your body to come after the acid in your calcium you have stored in the area where it packed it in your lower back in the former attempt to use calcium to remove the acid from your blood.
That is: Maintain a deficit of acid with the baking soda/apple cider vinegar/honey drink. This will have your body craving acid in order to balance out the equation. Your body will start searching for acid and since you are not providing it, it will seek out the acid it stored away in the calcium in your lower spine. In doing so, it will remove the calcium build up to get to the acid, thus freeing the nerves and movement in your lower back.

    Mark,

Wow, what a timely find. 60, athletic, all this year couldn't stand or walk for more than 30 seconds without debilitating back and leg pain and numbness.Thought it was tight muscles, tried to rehab myself, no luck. Went to ortho doc, yep, spinal stenosis, bone spurs, all that found with xrays. put on powerful anti-inflamm drug, a ton better, but after 2nd visit today, said to go for mri.

YOU ARE RIGHT. They are narrow minded. This is one of the Top Docs in a major city. x-ray,drugs,mri, - then proposed either cortizone or surgery. really ???? that's really thinking outside the box.

interesting side note: my nephew is a huge personal injury lawyer. you know what the number one request to sue via internet is ? Laser Spine Institute. He gets so many people wanting to sue them he just refers the leads to other lawyers. Like you, unless I'm in a car wreck and need back surgery to survive, your way has to be worth trying - how can such smart iq people like doctors be so stuck in a rut with their thinking ????

oh well, thanks for your help !

    WyzeTrooth,

I think medicine has become an assembly line. 40 or 50 years ago doctors wanted to help you and try to find the answer. Now doctors have pharmaceutical reps come in twice a week and try to get in good with samples and kickbacks. Doctors have deals made with heart surgery and back surgery centers that provide referral bonuses. Its become much more segmented with "If this, then this" medical flowcharts.

Hi....I recently just found out I have severe spinal stenosis of the cervical spine and found your blog while researching. I have been on your program for a week. I really hope it works for me.

    Hi Mark,

So my father who is 55 has been suffering from lumbar spinal stenosis. He's been a cab driver for 15+ years working 12+ hrs a day almost 7 days a week, so not a lot of movement going on there. For the past few years, his feet will go numb when he is standing on his feet for a couple minutes or even walking but when he sits down, the numbness eventually goes away. But just last week, his left big toe went completely numb and has very limited mobility and it's been that way since. His doc says that the only option at this point would be surgery, but there is a high chance it won't be successful. And if he doesn't do surgery, he most likely will lose mobility in the lower half of his body and become disabled.

The notably big difference I see in your situation and my dad's is that my dad does not feel any pain which is due to the fact that his nerves are really damaged (i.e pinched) at this point. Do you think he still has a chance of curing his condition (or at least restoring his health to a certain degree) if he follows your recommended form of treatment? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as it seems like he does not have many options left!

Found your blog very helpful, and have been researching and looking up things on the doctoryourself. In your updated blog, are you not taking the b12 and other supplements you list in your first blog?

    Hey AC,

Got a couple of things here. I actually need to update this blog. First of all, due to the fact that he sat in one place and didn't really exercise, his blood sugar began to rise as well as his acid levels. The human body does not like rising acid levels so it started using pulling calcium out of his bones (did he start getting a lot of cavities or a tooth crumble?) to buffer the acid in his body as he was probably drinking a lot of acid coffee or soft drinks to stay alert.
Then it started taking that calcium full of acid and started shoring up the injury point in his body, like spackling a wall. In your dads case it was his lower back as that received work injury all day bouncing up and down bent like an L in his seat. This in turn began bone build up which started pinching his nerves.
Having your spinal nerves pinched is misery because it can make the legs feel heavy, hard to move, it makes you tired and it can take feeling from part of your legs and feet.
I recently went to a spinal stenosis conference led by a panel of doctors at a hotel in the Chicago area. I found out some valuable things: 1. Stenosis is caused by acid buffering and subsequent bone build up. 2. It is also caused by dehydration and the spongy part between the disks collapsing due to dehydration. 3. It is cured by stretching out the back and hydrating with plenty of water and also by doing a specific exercise...sitting on a big gym ball while bracing your arms on both sides of you and rolling your rear back and forth and then side to side on the ball (the ball is also rolling while this is happening) in order to get the fluids back inside the spine to regenerate the spongy material between the disks.

So unless your dad got some bad injury to the disks themselves and this is just stenosis this is what I would recommend your dad to do....now realize that he might think that some of this is bullshit but trust me this is how I fixed it (continued on comment below can only type so much each reply)

    To AC (continued)
My way I cured Spinal Stenosis:

    1. The Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth. Its a book you can order on Amazon. Order it. If you are unsure, read the comments (reviews). Its amazing. Not only will it make you appear younger, it actually puts your body back together again from injury. I cant stress this enough. Go to the book on amazon and read the reviews, all 300 of them. This is the real deal. Ive used it, my dad does it everyday and he is 79 and can move around like he is 40 and even run. This was a big factor in my back getting better. Apparently what these exercises do is speed up your chakra energy system to the point where you were in your 30s. And as the energy goes, your physical body goes along with. There have been some tremendous getting over sickness stories from doing the exercises in this book. They take about 10 min a day. Your dad will feel way better in a week. Any questions? Look back up at the comments I had with Brendan Maloney. We posted back and forth above.

    2. Order an inversion table. You can also purchase one of these on amazon. This stretches out your back and stretches the material between the disks and takes the pressure of the nerves. You will be on an incline, not totally upside down. Its heaven. For the first time you can feel the pressure come off your back and you are almost laughing with relief.

    3. Order one of those big gym balls you can sit on and do the exercises I decribed above.

    4. Drink water with some Natural Sea Salt sprinkled in it. This really hydrates your back and spine. The sea salt helps you absorb more water. Look this up on YouTube, I don't have the link offhand.

    5. alkalize your body (make it the opposite of acidic which caused the problem with your back) with bottled water, baking soda and organic lemons squeezed in the water. So: 1 bottled water, teaspoon of baking soda, squeezed wedge of lemon. This makes you very alkaline if you drink 2 of these a day. When your body swings over to the alkaline side of things it will start to crave acid. Where is it going to go to find acid if you are not drinking sugar, caffeine or coffee or acidic foods? It is going to go after the store of calcium acid that it had previously put into the lower back. It will start to disassemble the built up bone that is pinching your nerves.

This will take some discipline, which sadly not to many people have. They want to eat like they've been eating, and keep drinking mountain dews and coffee. It really comes down to this: do you want to get better?

No sugar, no coffee, no diet soda, no regular soda. Eat clean, salads, greens, chicken, beans, etc.

If your dad goes ALL the above no more stenosis in 4-5 months.

    Good luck

    AC,

The other thing he can do is nothing. Keep driving a cab (hes got to stop that. I stopped driving a truck when this started) and keep eating whatever hes eating. The stenosis will continue to progress and he could even become non ambulatory. As he is driving a cab his body: Will have sugar build up progress due to lack of exercise, will have more injury in the lower back to to repetitive work stress, his acid levels will climb as he keeps grabbing soft drinks and coffee to stay awake. The bone build up in his back further pinching his nerves will continue.
Its a difficult decision: do i keep sacrificing my body for a paycheck? One way I look at it as this: would i chop off a finger here and there for 100,000 a year? Nope. If you have to sacrifice your body in order to make a living, you have to do something else. What, I dont know as I dont know your Dad. He can actually do that list above but to tell you the truth after coming home from 12 hours in a cab, hell probably just want to collapse on a couch and go to bed. He needs to work a normal 8-5 job where he can come home and actually have an evening. For example, if he worked in an office or even a cubicle, he could brink some food with him in a Tupperware container and eat it at lunch and another for a break. He could eat clean at dinner at home and at breakfast. Cant do that working 12hrs a day in a cab. That's a young mans game. So add onto the above list 1A) Quit driving a cab

    Again, good luck
    Mark

We have detailed experience with LSS and treatments for lower back pain. How is your back today since your most recent update? For spinal stenosis, we recommend the MILD treatment. It is a minimally invasive procedure we offer in Webster, Texas with little pain and short recovery times. Have you heard of this treatment? Most of the pain from spinal stenosis is due to the severe pressure in the lower back. MILD relieves this lower back pain and pressure. Good luck and please visit our office if you are ever in the Webster, Texas area.
